Location
Aire naturelle de Bergonce is located near the eastern limit of the huge pine trees forest that covers most of the Landes. This is actually the biggest forest in Europe. The village of Bergonce lies close to the borders of three other département, and is ideally positioned to experience some of the best food and drink in France: (See the maps page)

- The Gironde to the north, home of the famous Bordeaux wines (if you are coming from Bordeaux, you'll cross the 'Graves' wine area, renowned for its great reds; then the 'Sauternes' area, with its delicious sweet whites, ideal for desert or as accompaniment to foie gras).

- The Lot-et-Garonne to the east, famous for its fine food (although, when it comes to gastronomy, the Landes can hold its own against any other region in France)

- The Gers to the south-east, 'Le pays de l'Armagnac'. La-Bastide-d'Armagnac, heart of the 'Bas-Armagnac' (the most sought after) is at a mere 12 kilometers from Bergonce.

But back to the Landes.

Some (recent) history
The 'Aire naturelle de Bergonce' is a small campsite, with just 25 plots. The site was established some twenty years ago and run by two devoted English couples.

The current owners took over in mid 2001. We aim to keep the family spirit, while at the same time renewing some of the facilities and further improving the welcoming atmosphere and the service to campers.

The camping site
If you are looking for a quite and peaceful place, away from the crowds and the traffic jams, come and taste the atmosphere of the park, with its ancient trees: oaks, cedars, chestnut trees or magnolias. Because we are an 'Aire naturelle', we garantee a surface of 250 m² for each tent, caravane or camping-car.

Upon arrival, you'll be warmly welcomed by Laurence. Throughout your stay, she'll be there to assist and advise with almost anything that crops up (apart from car mechanics!).

If you are on your way to a destination further south, Spain or Portugal for example, Bergonce is the perfect stopping place for a real rest before continuing your journey. As a matter of fact, we have already received guests en route to Spain, who were planning a one night stay, but who stayed for a week week or more. We assure you we did not use any constraint to retain them!

The site is open all year round.
